Re: D&D 3.5 - Heritage

"wait, Bronto has treasure? wow. wouldnt have guessed that." Ketu looks down at Hodgebiddle and whispers "I just have to be more hidden than that big guy there." and winks as he points to Oram. "And Sitara isn't a puppy, she has been with me for several seasons."

Re: D&D 3.5 - Heritage

Jin brushes the dirt away from the suspicious area and sure enough, there are some boards covering a hole in the ground.  There was no lock, not even a real door, much less a trap.  When he removes the boards, a small wooden chest is revealed.  It looks to be about 18 inches long and is latched but not locked.

Re: D&D 3.5 - Heritage

Despite the apparent lack of a lock, or security of any kind, Jin searches the chest for traps. Search: 11+8=19
Finding traps, Jin attempts to disable the traps. Disable Device: 11+17=28
With no traps in his way, Jin opens the box to see what it holds.

Re: D&D 3.5 - Heritage

Jin opens the box and inside is:
- A tarnished silver-colored locket
- A well-crafted dagger covered in dust and grime
- A small portrait of several people
- A lock of blond hair tied with now dirty and crumpled blue ribbon
- A rock with a painted abstract of a mother holding a baby
- A folded piece of paper tied with twine that looks like it contains something small

Re: D&D 3.5 - Heritage

Hodgebiddle ponders the question, "Not exactly. We had a tip that he was keeping treasures there and I figured that he was going to use them for to hurt someone. Besides, I don't think he deserves treasures." He smiles, "So I thought we should remove the temptation of using them for unlawful reasons."

Jin exits the shack and shows Oram what's inside the box, without removing anything from the box. If Hodgebiddle comes over, Jin will lower the box down so he can see, too.

Re: D&D 3.5 - Heritage

Hodgebiddle crosses the street again and looks in the box. A perplexed look spreads across his face. He pulls the note that was given to him out of his robe and reads it again. "No, I don't intend to take someone's keepsakes. Perhaps we have the wrong shack."

Are any of the people in the picture Bronto?

Ketu gets up from his hiding place, since obviously theres no point in hiding when everyone else is hanging out in the street with Bronto's chest. He walks over to the group and attempts to peer into the chest, if Jin will let him.

Hodgebiddle scratches his head as he says, "You know...that would be a very impressive feat if I could. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do that. I assure you that someday I will though." He squints a little as he makes a mental note of the importance of such a spell.

Re: D&D 3.5 - Heritage

I'm assuming that Jin has put back the chest and recovered the floor in addition to closing the door before he hides.

After only ten minutes, Bronto comes strolling around the corner into the alley.  As he gets closer to his shack, suddenly, he looks straight at Oram, then slowly over to Ketu.  Oram is hunched behind a small barrel and Ketu's weapons are sticking out slightly from behind the shack he used for cover.

Bronto points at Ketu, "I see you back there, worthless sack of bones.  Did you come looking for more?  Did you think your little friend would help you!?"  Bronto's face has grown very red and the veins in his neck are popping.

"Why yes. Yes I did come back for more, Bronto." Ketu says as he walks out into the open. He plants his feet in the ground, one at a right angle to the other, and curls his arms in the air pointing to Bronto in a "get over here!" kind of motion.

Ketu is in the Island of Blades Stance. Ketu, and all allies, gain flanking against any enemy adjacent to Ketu.

Adam, here's a few links to gnomish mage pics that you might like, though they're all older looking.  I wasn't sure.

Also, Brandon, I made a token for Sitara.  If you don't like it, just link me a new picture and I'll change it.

Sorry about the heinous colors on the map.  It's all the colors Google Docs has.  Sometimes I'll have nicer maps available and sometimes it'll be ugliness. tongue  The yellow is the ground in the alley and the brown is the shack, crates, barrels, and the backs of the buildings across the way.  I've placed everyone according to what we posted but thought I'd give you the opportunity to move yourselves to somewhere different now that you can see the map.  No, Bronto hasn't been placed yet for a reason. tongue

Re: D&D 3.5 - Heritage

If you are not interested in continuing DMing it, that is perfectly understandable. If it continued, I would certainly play. If it didn't, I wouldn't flame. I will leave it up to you guys. It seems that we all have a LOT on our plates.

Man, I'm sorry, I just can't seem to get back into this right now.  Maybe after a break and not just a disappearance.
