Every year I do something kind of silly for Burt's birthday (like tape crepe paper from floor to ceiling all over the house or a 'scavenger hunt' for a mini boob cake in the morning) but last year because of many reasons, I ended up just giving him a gift and not making as big of a deal about it as usual. This year, I want to make up for it but generic surprise party doesn't seem quite right. Best idea I've had so far is a surprise LAN.

No, we don't expect gifts from people; that's not the point of trying to get everyone together for his birthday. I've got a gift for him that I think will shock him (in a good way).

His birthday is on Nov. 17 but we'd celebrate it on the Saturday before, which I think is the 14th.

Hmm, as much as I'd like having someone else wrap it, I would feel bad about not doing it myself. I'll be in town on Thursday, I'll stop by and pick it up that morning.

So are peeps, besides teh Rogie, up for a LAN on the 14th or not so much? We can do something else. I'm not really coming up with better ideas. I'm too poor to get too grandiose, unfortunately.

Since you work late on the 14th, Brandon, would Friday the 13th or Sunday the 15th work better for you so you can be there too? I think I'm scrapping the LAN idea. I decided I'm going to bake an R2 D2 cake and we can just get together and watch a movie or something.

How about other peeps, Friday the 13th or Sunday the 15th?

I think that Burt, at this point, would rather get in a session of his sci-fi game rather than cancel it for a really small LAN. If peeps wanted to LAN on Friday night, that'd be fine, as long as we still get in the sci-fi game on Friday.

That's fine; we can just get together and have cake, or other people can play if they want. We need to decide, though, so I know if I need to spirit Burt's computer away while he's asleep. I want it to be a surprise for him.

It sounds like Burt wants to get another round of the Sci-Fi game in. I'm up for doing that. LANs, while fun, can be an enormous pain in the ass. Especially a surprise LAN.

2 Pre-frosted dome.
3 Original way I was going to make the chocolate candies for the panels on the head.
4 Way I had to make the candies because, despite pretests, I couldn't get the chocolates to come off the dome without breaking after I'd taken the time to tape all the measured patterns on the bowl...

Yes, your legs get lovin'. But I had put them away for secret keeping by the time I thought to take pictures and I cut it close as far as picking up before he came home. I'm going to draw on some of the blue and silver bits and will take pictures then.

Well, here it is, sans the legs because it was being propped up at the time. It started to lean too much for comfort after I frosted it...So the legs will go on temporarily for presentation and then will be moved.

Obviously it's missing stuff but I ran out of time, energy, and supplies to finish it like I wanted to. The blue pieces are hand piped white chocolate died blue and they took a shit load of time and I wasn't even able to get them how I wanted. I was also going to do glass candy for the lenses but ended up cutting that because of time.

I was actually able to add the bits I wanted to add this morning because I couldn't sleep and Burt didn't go to bed until quite late. I also had to cut the legs thinner, Logan. So don't be upset...

It did. And it snow in 4 or 5 different containers in the freezers and the fridge.
